The Sun News,

 Letter to the Editor,

 P.O. Box 406,

 Myrtle Beach, SC 29578

Dear Editor-in-chief,

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my article. I am writing to you to persuade my audience about why cutting high school and marching band will be a loss.

Many people believe that cutting band programs in the county will save us money to be put into different areas. The truth is, band is actually helping students perform better in school. Through the research I’ve done I have found that playing music increases the brains ability to retain information. It is also proven that children who are in band have higher math proficiency then other children who aren’t in band.

I am asking you to publicize this to make people realize that band should not be cut. Band is beneficial to students mentally and physically. It is not all just fun and games that people think; something that people don’t realize.

With many thanks,

Thomas Kelliher
